Token Marks (Coins)
From the outside Mythopouch looks like a money-related game, but it is actually a rich storytelling game where collecting characters (token marks/coins) from "positive" or "bonus" encounters are the currency!
🪙 Token Marks - Your Presence in the Board Game
In Mythopouch, everything comes to life through Token Marks (coins).
A Token Mark (coin) is the physical representation of a card - a concept, whether it’s a character, creature, artifact, or place.
Think of it like this:

The card is your information

The Token Mark is your presence
👉 Just like a miniature in a tabletop game, the Token Mark is what you use to play/place on the game board.
🎮 Starting the Game
At the beginning of the game (in general play mode): The player, or each player (multiplayer mode) places their hand into the pouch and randomly draws one Token Mark. This becomes their character for the entire game
👉 You don’t choose.
👉 You don’t swap.
That Token Mark is your identity from start to finish.
🧭 Your Active Token Mark
Your starting Token Mark is your:

Player piece on the board
-
Main character in the story
-
Constant presence throughout the game
You use it to:

Move across the map
-
Engage in encounters
Tell your story:
👉 This Token Mark never changes.
🏆 Collecting Token Marks
As you travel, you’ll encounter other token marks/coins/cards/entities/objects. When an encounter occurs: you roll the Encounter Dice 🎲
A result of "Good" (green foot) 👣 or bonus "Token Mark" 🪙 (gold coin) role allows you to claim a new random Token Mark from the Mythopouch!
👉 These become your collected Token Marks
⚖️ Gaining and Losing Token Marks
Collected Token Marks are not guaranteed to stay with you. You can gain Token Marks through successful encounters. You can lose Tokens through:

Dynamic cards

Game events
-
Other players
👉 This creates tension, risk, and interaction between players.
🔁 What Token Marks Represent
Every Token always represents:

A specific entity, object or place

A specific identity

A mythological or historical object from time

It could be:
