Pithos
Why and what is a "pithos" I hear you say? In the Pandora's Box story from ancient Greek mythology we hear about, it was never a "box". In English, it is actually a clay jar but in Greek it is a "pithos". A pithos is a towering ancient Greek clay jar built to safeguard a civilisation's survival. Usually large, these vessels held the lifeblood of daily life, such as rich olive oils, wines, and grains. Clay kept the goods cool and also prevented bugs and rodents from contaminating or eating the contents.

Why did Mythopouch choose Pandora's Pithos in its title when the track sounds more magical fantasy, medieval and Arthurian? The Pandora story people generally know is that Pandora opened all the evil and troubles into the world due to curiosity. Research deeper and you will find that it was set up by Zeus, Pandora was not actually a born human and much more! Once she opened the pithos due to curiosity (who wouldn't to a magically humming pithos) all the evils/troubles escaped into the world - but what people do not tell you is that Zeus ordered the other gods to give her cursed powers but some gods gave her special positive powers, and the most important is that something remained in the pithos - HOPE! This is a fundamental Mythopouch lesson - hope always remains no matter what - no one can ever take that away from us as humans!
Tro the Boar - Twrch Trwyth
Why is Tro the Boar (Twrch Trwyth) featured on the cover artwork? Tro the Boar (Twrch Trwyth) represents the untamed nature and forest of old Britain in Arthurian times. For Mythopouch it represents the wildness of ancient times. We live in fairly comfortable and safe times but for ancient peoples this was not the case. The woods were spooky and people had tales to keep inquisitive children and people safe. Wild boars, bears, snakes, poisonous plants and other things were common. There was no hospital, clean water or towns for many miles often when you left the comfort of a small village or township. Tro was not and is not evil, he is simply wild and untamed nature - running on primal instincts, making split second decisions about life and death.
